Yosemite SQL Option

Yosemite SQL Option

Marta Systems has developed a Yosemite software option that populates an SQL database as weather data is received.

When installed on a Yosemite system, Marta's SQL option stores user-selected text data, decoded observations and decoded lightning strikes to the SQL database. The data may be received from Noaaport, Skytap or any other supported method in Yosemite.

In a load-sharing Yosemite environment, multiple Yosemite servers may write to a single SQL database.

Old data within the SQL database is purged by Yosemite according to user settings that are independent of Yosemite's local data storage and purge processes. This feature may be disabled to allow your own external process to perform SQL data purge.

Any SQL-style database for which a Microsoft ODBC driver is available may be used. This includes all of the popular databases such as MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle and PostGres. The database may be located on any machine accessible via the network to your Yosemite server.

Yosemite's SQL Interface option decodes observations and other coded messages to an XML string then stores the XML string in the database. These messages are fully decoded:

a)  Metar reports
b)  Data Collection Platform (DCP) observations
c)  Watches
d)  Warnings
e)  Sigmets
f)   Airmets
g)  Asus1 and Fsus2 frontal position messages
h)  Vaisala real-time NLDN lightning strikes data

Additionally, any text product may be stored in its original file format.

Future database compatibility is planned for the following product types:

a) Hurricane tracks
b) Aircraft tracks
c) Ship tracks
d) Upper air observations
e) GPS position messages

The pathnames of satellite imagery, radar images and GRIB model data stored on your Yosemite servers will be saved to a database table to allow easier data retrievals from Yosemite by other third party programs.

Warranty & Support - One year of maintenance support including software updates and technical phone/email support is included at no charge, while you are a subscriber to basic Yosemite support. Annually thereafter, Yosemite SQL Interface maintenance support cost $250/year (as a subscriber to basic Yosemite support).
