Introduction to Skytap NEXRAD Radar...
The National Weather Service's advanced network of WSR-88D Next Generation Weather Radars (Nexrad) provide an unprecedented range of weather products that enable weather personnel to issue more accurate mesoscale weather forecasts, statements, advisories, and warnings.
Marta Systems' SKYTAP(sm) Weather Data Service provides the 20 most popular Nexrad products, without alterations, from each of the WSR-88D radars comprising the network. Nexrad products are received at Marta Systems in real-time from the NWS NOAA-Port satellite broadcast.
In addition, Marta Systems generates and provides quality controlled Regional and National Mosaic products in medium and very high resolutions.
SKYTAP Nexrad products are updated in real-time as they are generated by the radars.
Marta Systems' software is required to access the SKYTAP(sm) and display the products on personal computer systems.
